Founded in 1993, AIS/B is the only school in Bolivia that offers the International Baccalaureate program in Spanish and English, while combining preparation for the International Baccalaureate (IB) (link to the International Baccalaureate)with the American and Bolivian Diplomas (link to National Diplomas).
AIS/B is committed to the success of each of its students, and with this goal, when students enter the school with a low level in a specific academic area or language, teachers work with their students from the beginning and strive to bring these students up to the level of the rest of their classmates.
The school has an academically rigorous curriculum that generates and develops critical thinking skills and problem solving, while building the strengths of each individual student. The academic plan of study combines the requirements for the International Baccalaureate (IB) (link to International Baccalaureate), and the American and Bolivian diplomas (link to National Diplomas), while incorporating the Montessori teaching method (link to Montessori) in the initial levels and multiple intelligences (link to Multiple Intelligences) in all levels. To this end, AIS/B includes multimedia resources in their entire curriculum, using computers, videos and other systems to reinforce concepts and traditional teaching methods. Upon graduation, students are characterized by being bilingual (link to Language Program)in English and Spanish, with additional deep knowledge of either German, French or Mandarin. A key feature of the school's teaching approach is a commitment to personalized education through classes with a small number of students (about twenty students) so that each student receives individualized instruction and attention.
AIS/B students are enthusiastic learners as they participate in varied activities (link to School Life)including sports, acting, fine arts, student government, student newspaper and Community Service. AIS/B students work hard but also have fun. The classes are designed to be stimulating and friendships formed are long lasting. School life is full of activities, projects and celebrations. In a short period of time, our students are academically trained and ready to face the world.
The IB is recognized worldwide as a prestigious achievement, and universities around the world admit students with the International Baccalaureate. At the same time, the American High School diploma opens doors to universities in the United States and the academic rigor found in AIS/B enables our students to achieve their career dreams and succeed in life.
